APO Rush Week

Rushing APO was a fun and relaxing experience. As a transfer student eager to make friends and get involved with the Muhlenberg community, APO seemed like a great opportunity and I looked forward to each rush event. I wasn’t disappointed. Sure, walking into the ML Underground to a group of people I’ve never met before is intimidating. But being new to the school, being shy, or having friends join you didn't matter. Everyone was welcoming, ready to have fun, and shared the same curiosity about APO. At Mixer Night, we played two truths and a lie as a group and got to know each other better. By the second event, Board Game Night, the hopeful pledges began to recognize each other. Most of the group played Cards Against Humanity, inciting a lot of laughs. Ice Cream and Waffles Night was both popular and delicious. Tie Dye Night, while messy, resulted in some cool new t-shirts, bandanas, and other clothing items. Personally, my favorite day of rushing was the Community Service Event. Though required to go, everyone was happy to not only get to hang out with new people but to work for a great cause. We decorated cards for soldiers who are overseas and won’t be home for the fall holidays. Either centered on Halloween or Thanksgiving, each card included a short message thanking our soldiers for their dedication and courage. We all put a lot of effort into making our cards look beautiful so that these soldiers could know how much they are appreciated. I left the last event excited about pledging APO, a group of friendly, altruistic, and dedicated individuals working to make a difference in any way possible. APO is not only about getting those hours in but motivating and inspiring community engagement, building friendships, creating change, and simply lending a helping hand to those in need. I believe my entire pledge class, Gamma Gamma, is ready and excited to join APO.
